چکیده

Ink-jet printing is an important process for placing active electronics on plastic substrates. We demonstrate ink-jet printing as a viable method for large area fabrication of carbon nanotube CNT thin film transistors TFTs . We investigate different routes for producing stable CNT solutions “inks” . These consist of dispersion methods for CNT debundling and the use of different solvents, such as N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone. The resulting printable inks are dispensed by ink-jet onto electrode bearing silicon substrates. The source to drain electrode gap is bridged by percolating networks of CNTs. Despite the presence of metallic CNTs, our devices exhibit field effect behavior, with effective mobility of 0.07 cm2/V s and ON/OFF current ratio of up to 100. This result demonstrates the feasibility of ink-jet printing of nanostructured materials for TFT manufacture. © 2007 American Institute of Physics. DOI: 10.1063/1.2770835

Printed energy storage devices by integration of electrodes and separators into single sheets of paper

We report carbon nanotube thin film-based supercapacitors fabricated with printing methods, where electrodes and separators are integrated into single sheets of commercial paper. Carbon nanotube films are easily printed with Meyer rod coating or ink-jet printing onto a paper substrate due to the excellent ink absorption of paper. A specific capacity of 33 F/g at a high specific power of 250 000...

This paper presents the development and characterization of an ink-jet printed 2-bit, 1x4 phased-array antenna (PAA) system developed on a flexible Kapton polyimide substrate using carbon nanotube thin-film transistors (CNTTFTs) as switching elements in the phase-shifting network. A multilayer metal interconnection strategy is used to make a complete PAA system with control lines. By appropriat...

We demonstrate ink-jet printing as a viable method for large area fabrication of graphene devices. We produce a graphene-based ink by liquid phase exfoliation of graphite in N-Methylpyrrolidone. We use it to print thin-film transistors, with mobilities up to∼95cmVs, as well as transparent and conductive patterns, with∼80% transmittance and∼30kΩ/ sheet resistance. This paves the way to all-print...

Printed, sub-3V digital circuits on plastic from aqueous carbon nanotube inks.

Printing electronic components on plastic foils with functional liquid inks is an attractive approach for achieving flexible and low-cost circuitry for applications such as bendable displays and large-area sensors. The challenges for printed electronics, however, include characteristically slow switching frequencies and associated high supply voltages, which together impede widespread applicati...
